During operation, that is the actual work, materials and structural elements are subjected to variable loads. Often, these cyclical loads act for an extended period of time (e.g. vibration). It is important that the design phase includes fatigue properties. This can be achieved by the use of the design criteria based on the results of fatigue tests. Fatigue tests are carried out on professional high-cycle machines with drivers, software and data acquisition devices.

The Department has the following equipment for fatigue testing:

• tensile testing maschine MTS 850 of capacity 100 kN,
• tensile testing maschine Dartec of capacity 250 kN,
• universal optical system.
